The Jojoba plant is found in southern Arizona, southern California and the Sonora Desert. It grows in well drained, coarse desert soils, on dry slopes and washes. Jojoba oil is derived from the Jojoba nut, which is contained in an acorn-like pod that hangs from the end of the branches. Jojoba Oil (actually a liquid wax) is a superior, high-grade, non-toxic, fast penetrating, odorless, natural lubricant for both personal and industrial use. It is unique among vegetable oils as it is a nondrying oil, having such high resistance to oxidation that it can be stored for years without becoming rancid.

Directions for use of Jojoba oil as a hair and scalp conditioner: Apply a small amount of Jojoba oil to hair and scalp; massage thoroughly into scalp and hair, paying particular attention to split ends. Leave on hair for 10-30 minutes (use hot towell wrap if desired); shampoo as usual. Or you can add 2-3 drops of oil to your shampoo before applying, as it will help remove dirt and sebum build-up on your scalp and at the same time help condition your hair. The oil can also be applied directly to your hair after shampooing by applying a few drops of oil in the plams of your hands and rubbing them together, then massaging it into your hair and scalp evenly. Adjust the amount of oil used depending on your type of hair and the amount of oil it will absorb. Rinse hair thoroughly. There is no need to shampoo again as the Jojoba oil will work as a conditioner if used sparingly. Or you can add 2-3 drops of oil directly to your conditioner before applying it, for added conditioning effects. Directions for use of Jojoba oil as a skin moisturizer and conditioner: Smooth 2-3 drops of oil directly on face and dry body areas; rub in gently - no need to wash off - its unique penetrating qualities will not leave the skin greasy feeling. Can also be used as a make-up remover - apply a small amount to face and wipe off with a soft cloth or sponge. Use as a night moisturizer and during the day as protection against dry winds and harsh sun. Apply night and morning for help in the treatment of acne. If applied to the entire body before swimming in a chlorinated pool, it will help protect the skin from chlorine absorption and drying effects.
